Grandaskóli and the Implementation of UNICEF's Rights Respecting School and Recreation Program

Rights respecting schools and after-school programs are dedicated to one of the fundamental principles of Icelandic education: democracy and human rights. The program emphasizes children's rights education for both children and adults, ensuring that children become active participants in a democratic society. One step in implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is developing an action plan for each Rights Respecting School. Grandaskóli completed this work during the 2025-2026 school year. The action plan has been approved by UNICEF, and work on carrying it out is underway.
