Exhibit at the Árni Magnússon Institute

World in Words

Today, sixth-grade students from Grandaskóli visited the World in Words exhibit

World in Words

At the World in Words exhibit, we had the opportunity to view the Icelandic manuscripts. The collection features ancient sagas and famous poems alongside various other texts and manuscripts that reflect historical society and times past. According to the Árni Magnússon Institute, these are the exhibit's main elements:

"The exhibit highlights the manuscripts' rich content, both text and images, showcasing themes of life, death, emotions, faith, power and honor. It explores foreign influences on medieval Icelandic culture and language, while also examining how Icelandic ancient literature has made its mark internationally."

The exhibit is outstanding and housed in an impressive new building. The blend of modern technology and thoughtful exhibition design makes ancient manuscripts more engaging for younger audiences. We highly recommend this exhibit to anyone interested in our nation's history and cultural heritage.
